The 74VHCT373AMTC is an advanced version of the popular voltage-controlled 8-bit latch. A voltage-controlled latch, also known as a VHCT (Volatile High-Capacity Transistor), is used to control digital logic signals in a variety of applications. It stores one-bit information and outputs them when a control signal is given.This type of latch is widely used in logic gates and is an integral part of many digital circuits. It is therefore widely employed in industrial, commercial and aerospace applications such as electronic control systems, circuit simulation, electronic testing and evaluation, and automated motion control systems.The 74VHCT373AMTC Opto-Transistor latch is used in high-speed, high-power switching logic circuits. It is designed for use in power-supply applications, enabling it to switch off the power at certain conditions like over-voltage, under-voltage or over-temperature. This type of latch can also be used in high-voltage switching applications such as motor control and home automation applications.The 74VHCT373AMTC operates on a voltage-controlled logic level and hence needs an input voltage higher than the logic levels. This makes the latch suitable for working on the power rail between 3.5V to 20V. It also has a high total power dissipation of 10 watts which makes it suitable for high power switching applications.The 74VHCT373AMTC is available in three different packages. These packages include the SOT-23, the SOT-338 and the SOP-20 packages. All three packages have the same Terminals and are pin-and-socket compatible.The 74VHCT373AMTC latch is programmed using the valid logic level through the D (data) input. The latch will store the logic level presented at the D input until another logic level is presented to it. When a logic-level is presented at the E (enable) input, the state stored at the D input will be presented at the Q output. The output will remain latched until the E input is changed to an output state that is opposite to the previous one.The working of the 74VHCT373AMTC latch can be explained by the following state diagram. When the E (enable) input is high, the output will follow whatever logic state is present at the D Input. But when the E input is low, the latch will never change its output.
