802-907 according to IEEE standard is a type of WLAN technology, bringing data rates up to 54Mbps for users. This technology is often used in applications such as gaming, streaming media and internet access.

This technology works by using the IEEE 802.11 standard for wireless local area networks. It is based on radio waves to transmit data between two devices. 802.11b/g is a popular frequency for these networks, with 802.11n being the newest, up to 18 Mbps.

The 802.11b/g version of this technology can be divided into two parts: The Physical Layer (PHY) which is responsible for defining the signal coding scheme as well as the modulation techniques to send the signal over a medium; and The Media Access Control (MAC) layer which is responsible for controlling the access of different devices to the medium and addressing the traffic among the various devices.

In addition to these two layers, the 802.11b/g technology is further divided into four sub-categories based on the data rate used. These categories are 2 Mbps, 5.5 Mbps, 11 Mbps and 54 Mbps and represent four different transmission methods.

802.11b/g technology can be used in both indoor and outdoor settings. It can be used for a variety of applications, including video and voice communication, gaming, streaming media, web surfing, and more. This technology is used in businesses, homes, hotels, airports, universities, and other public and private venues. The technology is inexpensive compared to wired solutions.

802.11b/g technology works in a short-range, meaning the transmission range is slightly limited. Generally, it can only reach up to 50 meters. The location of the transmitter and receiver must both be in the same vicinity, as the signal may be weakened or lost if they are farther apart.

802.11b/g technology is inherently insecure. Data is transmitted in an open format that can be intercepted by other 802.11b/g users. To protect data, security protocols such as WEP, WPA, and WPA2 are employed which encrypt the data prior to transmission.

802.11b/g technology has been the backbone of wireless networking for almost a decade. Although more modern alternatives exist, such as 802.11n and 802.11ac, 802.11b/g remains a popular choice due to its low cost and widespread availability.
