Pneumatics

Pneumatics is a form of technology that uses gas or pressurized air to operate machinery. It is based on the movement of air or other gases through the use of pressure. Pneumatic systems use pressure and vacuum to create energy, move objects and transmit signals. Pneumatic systems are used in a variety of industries, such as manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, medical, manufacturing, and more.

Pneumatic systems utilize a range of specialised components to create pressure gains or leverages to move an object. Compressors compress air or gas, then pumps pressurize it and send it to components such as valves, cylinders, motors and controls. The components operate when the air or other gas is released in the cylinder, motor, or other chamber.

In its simplest form, a pneumatic system includes a piston, a cylinder, and an air chamber. The piston is connected to the air chamber, which is then filled with compressed air. This pressure is then used to move the piston, pushing or pulling it up, down or sideways. The movement of the piston creates a vacuum or a vacuum loss, creating output power for operating other components.

Pneumatic power can be used to operate machinery, such as lifts, robotics, packaging, machining and welding, conveyors, and more. It is often chosen as an alternative to more expensive and hazardous hydraulic power systems.

Hydraulics

Hydraulics is the use of pressurized liquid to generate power. It is often used in large industrial and commercial applications, such as for powering construction or agricultural machinery. Hydraulics are also used in many automotive applications, including brakes, brake cylinders, suspension and transmissions.

At its most basic, a hydraulic system is composed of a pump, a reservoir, and some type of control system, such as a valve. The pump pressurizes the liquid within the system, and the control system directs the flow of the liquid to the desired location. The pressure created by the pump is then used to move the component in the desired direction.

Hydraulics are often chosen for applications where high force or torque is needed. As the pressure created by the pump is extremely high, it can be used to generate extremely powerful and precise movements. It can be used to operate large industrial or agricultural machinery, like presses, lifts, pumps, motor controls, and valves.

Hydraulic systems also offer the advantage of being highly efficient. By using pressurized liquid, hydraulic systems have a much higher efficiency percentage than pneumatically operated systems, which rely only on air for energy.
