Limit Switches

Limit switches are electromechanical components used for sensing and controlling the position of a door, lever, or other movable machine components. These devices are typically used in areas with a large amount of mechanical motion, such as banks, assembly lines and transportation vehicles. Limit switches are designed to open or close an electrical circuit when their mechanical lever is triggered.

Limit switches are usually connected to an electrical circuit and actuated by a mechanical link, such as a lever or cam. The switch is actuated when the mechanical link triggers the electrical contact inside of the switch. The limit switch is designed to be durable, with a high level of repeatability and reliability. The switch is able to sense the position of the movable machine part and actuate the circuit when the desired position is reached.

Limit switches are available in various sizes and voltages, with SPDT and DPDT options. The size of the limit switch is determined by the application and its expected working conditions, with larger, industrials-grade switches available for more demanding applications. Additionally, the type of actuation may vary, with lever-, plunger-, roller- or toggle-style actuators available.
