Diodes - Rectifiers - Arrays
The 83CNQ080ASL is an integrated Schottky rectifier array consisting of 8 individually controlled Schottky rectifiers housed in a small SOIC (D-Pak) package. The individual rectifiers in the array can be enabled or disabled by parallel control signals – the only control input in the form of 8 control signals determines the conduction states of the rectifiers. So, this IC is suitable for a wide range of applications, including many power supply and adapter power conversion systems.
Applications
The 83CNQ080ASL enables solution of various power supply problems such as DC/DC with effective input polarity control and rectification and voltage doubling of AC voltage. Currently, the 83CNQ080ASL Schottky output rectifier array is used in LED TVs and computer LCD monitors, charge pumps, motor control and consumer electronic products, such as DVD players and set-top boxes, for power conversion and voltage regulation.
Structural Features of the 83CNQ080ASL
The 83CNQ080ASL features a built-in circuitry called ‘polarity control circuit’, which allows the manager to turn the individual rectifiers on or off depending on the input signal. This control makes it possible to set the operation mode of the rectifiers in the array for any possible DC/DC application, compared to traditional AC/DC rectifiers that have a fixed operation mode on their outputs. The Schottky diodes in the 83CNQ080ASL rectifier array are rated to withstand continuous junction temperatures up to 150 C, making this component highly suitable for operations with high power dissipation.
Working Principle
The 83CNQ080ASL is based on the Schottky rectifier operation. When the chip is powered, the Schottky diodes form a conduction path for the current flow. A control signal is used to control the conduction process by turning the rectifiers either on or off. The 83CNQ080ASL rectifier array is designed to work in the direct current (DC) domain, with the diodes exhibiting a forward bias.
