A solid state relay (SSR) is an electronic switching device that switches a load on or off when an external voltage is applied. It is capable of switching up to three amps of continuous current with a maximum on-state resistance of 0.2 ohms and a maximum off-state resistance of 10 Kohms.The primary working principle of a SSR is based on the Gate-Turn-Off (GTO) thyristor, a three element component composed of an anode, gate, and cathode. A positive voltage applied between the gate and cathode must be greater than the gate threshold voltage in order to render the thyristor into the conductive or “on” state. In the “on” state, the load current is passed between the anode and cathode of the SSR. Conversely, a small negative voltage applied between the gate and cathode will be greater than the gate threshold voltage and render the thyristor to the non-conductive or “off” state, effectively breaking the current path and preventing the load current from passing through.In summary, the 84134081 solid state relay offers a wide range of features, suitable for a range of applications, such as motor control, light control, security systems, and HVAC control.
