The second mode supports an FLL that accepts an analog input, and outputs a synthesized frequency that is in precise lock with the input frequency. The third mode supports a PLL that accepts an input reference frequency and erates a precise frequency output with low jitter. The 8701CYLF integrates the various functions required for a typical frequency synthesizing application into a single device. This includes the oscillator circuitry (VCO), the frequency lock loop (FLL), the frequency divider, the phase frequency detector (PFD), and the programmable divider. The device also includes a number of digital input and output pins that enable external control and interface with other devices. The 8701CYLF operates in two basic modes: static and dynamic. In static mode, it is used to program a precise output frequency. In dynamic mode, a control voltage can be used to deviate the output frequency and allow for relative frequency changes.
