The 8T73S1802NLGI8 is a low skew, differential fanout buffer (Quad Clock Driver) used to accurately redistribute a single clock signal to multiple devices. It is ideal for driving clock signals at high switching speeds, over long PCB traces, or in systems with multiple clock domains. It operates over a wide supply voltage range (Vcc1/Vcc1b=2.5V~3.3V), allowing this part to be used in a wide range of different applications. The 8T73S1802NLGI8 can be used as a clock generator, clock divider, clock driver and clock buffer. It can be used to clock multiple systems running at different frequencies, to generate, divide and buffer low frequency clocks and to quickly switch between multiple clock sources.
The 8T73S1802NLGI8 clock buffer, driver, and fanout device contains a large number of refinements and features that make it suitable for a variety of applications. These features include four independent channels with individually selectable output type (LVPECL/LVDS/HCSL/CML), low jitter up to 5ps, output frequency up to 1GHz, skew between outputs of less than 3ps, and 4x8 clock fanout capability. The 8T73S1802NLGI8 also features integrated clock initialization and power fail support. It has a unique power-down sequence control that enables the device to operate in a wide variety of power-savings states, such as level-shifting, or idle, or even deep power-down. All outputs remain in the same logic state during the power up/down sequence, allowing the device to remain in sync with other active components.
The 8T73S1802NLGI8 works by taking the input clock signal, dividing it between 4 output drivers and then providing skewing adjustments to the output clock signals. Each of the four independent output channels can be configured with different levels of skew, HCSL or CML signaling support, along with LVDS and LVPECL support.
