The core of the converter works by Optical-Electric-Optical (OEO) conversion. The light signals coming from the fiber cable are converted to electrical current by a photo-diodes that can sense light signals.Then, an in-line receiver amplifies the signal and shifts it back into an electrical current. The electrical current is then sent into a conversion queue and is processed and encoded into standard electrical current. The electrical current then travels through the twisted-pair copper cable and reaches the transmitter which in turn converts it back to a light signal. This light signal is then with the help of potent lasers sent out towards the destination device.
