PMIC - Gate DriversA gate driver is a power electronic circuit used to drive a high current load, such as the gate of a power transistor—normally an insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) or field effect transistor (FET). Gate drivers are typically used in inverters, which convert direct current (DC) power to alternating current (AC) power, or rectifiers that convert AC power to DC power.The 98-0065 application field and working principle are based on the concept of charge-pump circuit topologies. For example, its unique voltage regulator design reduces power consumption and frequency jitter, enabling faster switching times and improved uniformity in the gate waveforms. The device also utilizes a new control signal architecture that increases the bandwidth for linear operation, improves switching efficiency and shortens response times.The 98-0065 also includes a high-efficiency current source/current sink, which is useful for driving high-switching frequencies. This current source/sink can generate up to 1A of output current with a quiescent current of below 2.75µA, making it suitable for high-frequency operations that require low power consumption and EMI reduction.The 98-0065 is designed to minimize the insertion loss in the gate driver circuit and improve the efficiency of the output stage. It utilizes a so-called active clamp circuit to minimize the charge pump loss during turn-off and to reduce the output voltage. In addition, the device also features an internal notch filter that minimizes the switching noise in order to further reduce EMI.The 98-0065 is a reliable and efficient gate driver that can be exposed to various environmental hazards.
