The 98311-57 electronic universal counter is a versatile, digital electronic AC/DC instrument. It is designed for industrial, scientific and process control instrumentation applications. It can sense, display and count a wide range of electrical & mechanical signals. It provides a 4 ½ digit display with up to 499999999 input signals processing and features. It has a relay output for signal arrest and control.

Application Fields

The 98311-57 electronic counter can be used for various types of laboratory instruments including scales, time measurer, gas turbine flowmeter, pressure range and weighing machines. It is used for accurate count of mechanical components such as nails, fasteners, rivets, welds and other similar items. Working Principle

The 98311-57 electronic universal counter can determine the status of a counter contact input signals and displays the corresponding numeric value internally. There are two types of input signals pulse type and zero start type. The instrument is provided with a reset operator to reset it to zero. The reset operator also can be used to select the voltage type AC or DC. During the count, the 98311-57 electronic counter utilizes a momentary contact to automatically count the input signals. It can count up to 499999999 signals, provides accurate and reliable over-range indication and is repeatable in nature.

The instrument features a four-input contact counting range from 1 to 499999999 with independent reset for each of the four inputs. It provides 4-digit display with leading zero suppression and automatic decimal point function. The relay output provides electrical isolation and can be automatically triggered upon an overrun or underrun situation, and can be preset for over-range or under-range detection. The instrument also features a memory storage function to preserve the output upon power failure or intentional switch off.

The 98311-57 electronic counter is made up of five main components – an input circuit, a controller, a display, an external power supply, and a relay output. The input circuit accepts the external count input, converts it to a digital signal, and transmits it to the controller.
