Magnetic sensors, or switches, sense the presence of an external magnetic field and are used to detect level, speed, and position in a wide variety of applications. The A1182LLHLT is a solid state, latching Hall effect sensor designed to detect low level magnetic fields. This sensor features a high sensitivity range, wide temperature operating range, low voltage operation, and fast response time. The A1182LLHLT is well-suited to a variety of applications such as automotive, home security, industrial, and medical systems. Applications include: speed and direction detection, current sensing, position sensing, switch and thermostat applications, and presence and motion sensing. The A1182LLHLT consists of two main components: the Hall element and the switching transistor. The Hall element contains a semiconductor material, which produces a voltage when a magnetic field is applied to it. This voltage signals the switching transistor to switch the circuit on or off. The Hall element can be configured for either latching or non-latching operation. In latching operation, the output of the Hall element will remain in its current state until the applied magnetic field reduces its intensity. This makes the latching type of Hall effect sensor ideal for numerous applications requiring reliable and noiseless switch status information, such as current, direction, position, and temperature. For non-latching operation, when the applied magnetic field reverses, so will the output of the Hall element. This type of Hall effect sensor is suitable for applications requiring an immediate response to changes in the magnetic field strength, such as automotive speed and rotation sensing, battery and alternator sensing, and anti-theft systems. The A1182LLHLT has several features that make it unique among other Hall effect sensor solutions. It is designed for operation over a wide range of temperatures, from -40℃ to +125℃, and is also very sensitive to small magnetic fields, up to 5 Gauss typical. The device offers low power consumption with the ability to operate on a supply voltage as low as 2.4V, and its fast response time makes it well-suited to high speed applications. The A1182LLHLT also has an EMC protection which allows it to be reliably used in noisy environments, such as those found in automotive and industrial applications. Additionally, the device has a built-in protection circuit, making it immune to damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD). Overall, the A1182LLHLT is a high performance, reliable, and cost effective solid state, latching Hall effect sensor making it an attractive option for a variety of applications.
