The magnet is mounted on a shaft to be monitored, and the Hall element is situated so that it senses the field generated by the magnet. As the shaft rotates, the position of the magnet in relation to the Hall element changes and, as with the linear measurement, the output of the Hall element is interpolated to generate an analog output indicative of the rotation of the shaft.
