A1373LKB-T is an integrated circuit (IC) type magnetic sensor from Allegro MicroSystems, an American semiconductor manufacturer. It’s a digital linear Hall-effect magnetic sensor designed to sense the presence or absence of a normally closed magnetic field. The A1373LKB-T IC is an open-loop, monolithic, linear Hall effect sensor and can be used to precisely sense the presence of a normally closed North or South pole magnetic target. It is designed to accurately sense magnetic fields down to 300 mT (millitesla).
The A1373LKB-T is characterized by fast switching speed, low power consumption, wide operating temperature range and a wide supply voltage range. It also features a zero-hold B-output when the measured magnetic field drops below a preset threshold, allowing for easy duty cycle management in applications where power and cost savings are critical.
The A1373LKB-T IC can be used in a variety of applications, including automotive and industrial sensors, linear and angular positioning sensors, motion sensing and many other applications that require mid-field detection. It can also be used as an external digital compass to measure changes in magnetic field direction or magnitude.
The A1373LKB-T works on the principle of the Hall effect. It is based on the phenomenon wherein an electric current passing through a conductor will be deflected in the presence of a magnetic field. When a perpendicular magnetic field is applied to the IC, it will produce a differential voltage output. The magnitude of this voltage is directly proportional to the magnitude of the magnetic field. This differential voltage can then be rectified and regulated to provide a stable output.
The A1373LKB-T also has several features that make it very easy to use. It offers a guaranteed wide-operating temperature range of -40 to 125°C and a high reverse-type ESD protection specification up to 8KV HBM. In addition, it has an adjustable current source to control the output voltage, and an adjustable positive substrate voltage to adjust the output offset voltage.
