Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is a type of integrated circuit (IC). This type of technology allows users to reprogrammability of digital gate & macrocell while remaining within the same package. This same reprogrammable concept makes FPGAs a versatile technology, allowing users to tailor the design of the product as per their application requirements. The A42MX09-PQG160 is a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device which is manufactured by Altera Corporation.

The A42MX09-PQG160 offers the programmable advantage of combining reconfigurable logic with RAM, EEPROM and expanded input/outputs that enable the user to develop a unique application specific solution. The working principle of A42MX09-PQG160 is based on the construction of its I/O ports and the way they are connected before and/or after configuration. They are also used to form logic gates and sequential logic blocks such as counters and state machines.
