.Embedded - FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Array) An FPGA, short for Field Programmable Gate Array, is a circuit board with integrated circuits that are programmed and customized to create custom Digital Logic Circuits. This kind of device has the potential to perform a myriad of applications due to their high levels of flexibility and configurability. The A54SX16-TQG176 is a small FPGA device specifically designed for embedded applications such as automotive and HVAC systems.The A54SX16-TQG176 features 16Kbits of SRAM memory and 16Kbits of configuration memory. It has five clocks and contains 11,808 logic elements and 160 flip-flops. It has 25 General I/O and a total of 256 user I/O pins. In addition, a JTAG port is available for in-system configuration. By configuring these switches, the user is able to create the desired logic circuit and design the desired functionality of the device.After the desired functionality is specified, the configuration bits are read from the non-volatile memory and transferred to the on-chip SRAM. Once loaded, the bits are read from the SRAM and used by the Logic Cells to determine the configuration of the switches.
