The A5KP400A-G is a diode that can provide overvoltage protection, reverse biased protection and ESD protection with a wide dynamic voltage range of up to 400A (VDRM). In commercial applications, the A5KP400A-G is used in portable electronic devices such as tablets, laptops, and smartphones to protect circuits from ESD and EFT.Working Principle
The A5KP400A-G is an high speed unidirectional diode which provides overvoltage protection, reverse biased protection and ESD protection with a wide dynamic voltage range of up to 400A (VDRM). It is designed to protect sensitive circuits from electrical overstress (EOS) induced transients. The diode provides protection by clamping lightning, burst and surge transients, as well as ESD, to a safe voltage level. The device is designed to clamp during ESD strikes with an ESD rating of up to 8KV contact and 15KV air discharge. It also has a maximum peak pulse current of up to 600A (IPPM).When the circuit voltage increases above the "VDRM" rating, the diode will be switched into the "on" state and will begin to conduct current, providing protection from any further increase in the voltage. When the surge voltage drops back below the VDRM threshold, the diode will switch back to the "off" state.
