AAT1270IFO-T1 Application Field and Working Principle

The AAT1270IFO-T1 is a member of the an ultra-small,step-up DC-DC regulator family, manufactured by AATI (Advanced Automation Technology Inc). This device is an integrated PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) that operates over a wide voltage input range of 1.8V to 3.6V and a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. With the low power consumption and high efficiency, the AAT1270IFO-T1 is ideal for applications such as LED drivers, portable displays and portable power sources.

The AAT1270IFO-T1 is designed to be used in systems which require a low current power rail for multiple purposes. It takes the input voltage and generates a regulated output rail with adjustable current and voltage. The output current depends on the loading on the rails, but a maximum current of up to 1A can be supported. The output voltage is adjustable from 4.8V to 5.5V.

The AAT1270IFO-T1 comes with a low start-up current and an integrated soft-start that smoothly transitions the load current from 0A to the steady state value. It also includes internal compensation, allowing users to easily adjust the output voltage and current setting without needing any external components or additional calibrations. Additionally, it has low noise ripple and is tolerant to 10V transient load current, which make it suitable for LED lighting applications.

The AAT1270IFO-T1 has a wide input operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, allowing the device to function in extreme conditions. Additionally,it includes a variety of fault protection features, such as Non-latch over current, short-circuit protection, open output protection, and over-temperature protection which further enhances the reliability of the device.

The working of the AAT1270IFO-T1 can be divided into four subparts; stable start, mode selection, control loop and protection circuit. The stable start subpart helps the device to start up smoothly and quickly. The device enters into the normal operation mode after passing a soft start reset interval. It then enters into the mode selection subpart, which is responsible for selecting the control mode; either PFM (Pulse Frequency Modulation) or PWM(Pulse Width Modulation). The device can automatically adjust itself to one of these two modes based on the load condition.

The control loop subpart is responsible for regulating the output voltage according to the reference voltage. It adjusts the output voltage by monitoring and comparing the feedback voltage with the reference voltage to obtain the best and most stable result. Last but not least, the protection circuit secures the device from any current overloading, or voltage,temperature and EMI related issues.
