Automotive Relays - ACTP112 Application Field and Working Principle
The automotive relay is an electrical device which is used for a variety of purposes in automobiles. The main purpose for which it is usually used is to switch circuits on or off in order to control the power flow and signal transfer in circuit pathways that run through the car. The ACTP112 relay is mainly utilised in vehicles where a current transformer installation would be beneficial for protecting the electrical systems from the high amount of EMI. The ACTP112 automotive relay operates on the principle of a current transformer (CT). CTs are transformer devices designed to produce output current in proportion to the input current. The ACTP112 unit functions as a relay switch and employs a current transformer in order to measure and control the electrical current and voltage supply in an automotive circuit. The internal operation of the CT in the ACTP112 is similar to that of transformer core switching. When the input current passes through the wirings of the CT, it causes magnetic flux which in turn causes the CT to produce output current in proportion to the input. This output current is then measured and compared to the preset threshold value that is predetermined by the user via an internal microcontroller in the relay. If the threshold value is exceeded then the relay will switch off the circuit, in order to protect the equipment from the harmful EMI.The ACTP112 relay also features built-in controllers which enable it to monitor the auxiliary resistors and measure the resistance values accurately. This technology allows the relay to detect any short circuits in the vehicle’s electrical circuitry. If a short circuit is detected, the relay will immediately shut off the circuit until it can be repaired.The ACTP112 automotive relay has a wide range of applicability in vehicles with modern safety systems. It is used to protect the electric systems from surges in line voltage and current, thereby preventing accidents due to faulty wiring.
