The AD6642EBZ Evaluation Board is designed to evaluate the features and performance of the AD6642 multifunction transceiver. This evaluation board provides a wide range of signal performance. It is an ideal companion to the AD6642 for a thorough analysis of a new design, as well as for system development and testing.The AD6642EBZ Evaluation Board is configured to be a single-ended receiver. It utilizes a low noise amplifier (LNA), an adjustable gain amplifier (AGC), and a low-level mixer for receive signal conditioning. The board is primarily intended to confirm the performance and features of the AD6642 device. The user can also modify the receiver chain components, or vary the components inserted into the circuit to evaluate different RF performance characteristics.The Evaluation Board comes with an antenna, and employs a receive antenna switch which allows the user to select between two antennas (ANT1 or ANT2).For additional system gain, an optional external low noise amplifier (LNA) can be included in the receiver chain. The Evaluation Board includes an output amplifier and filter to pass the receive signal to the output as shown in the figure.The AD6642EBZ Evaluation Board can be connected to digital control and signal conditioning circuits through its serial port interface ( SPI) or general-purpose input/output (GPIO) pins. The control pins provide control in the transmission and reception modes. The Evaluation Board includes four_zig-zag antenna connectors and two transmit/receive connectors for easy connection to external antennas.The AD6642EBZ Evaluation Board supports the programmability of the device through the SPI and also provides an analogue control of transmit gain, receive gain, and local oscillator frequency. The VCO input voltage is scaled across the desired voltage range. The AD6642EBZ Evaluation Board also contains circuitry for bias control of VCO, LNA, AGC, and mixer.The AD6642EBZ Evaluation Board can be used to evaluate the performance of the AD6642. The user can program the device parameters such as transmit frequency, receive frequency, frequency offset, modulation type, receive gain and transmit gain, etc. The board can also be used to aid in system development and testing. It can also be used to integrate the AD6642 into larger systems.The AD6642EBZ Evaluation Board is an ideal companion for the AD6642 and is ideal for use in a variety of applications, such as radio frequency (RF) identification (RFID), automotive, telecom, and other applications that require the transceiver to transmit and receive low power.
