Capacitive touch technology is a popular and versatile way for interface to sensor. This technology allows user to build switches, controls and other research projects. AD7148ACPZ-1500RL7 is one of the most commonly used capacitive touch sensing ICs offered by Analog Devices. The device enables high-speed capacitive touch acquisition with 8 independent electrodes and depends on no external clock for powering the AD7148ACPZ-1500RL7. This ensures an optimal low power solution for capacitive touch sensing with high reliability.
The AD7148ACPZ-1500RL7 supports up to 8-electrode scanning and up to 16-electrode scan by using four AD7148ACPZ-1500RL7 devices. The device features a programmable voltage detector, adjustable Interrupt detection Threshold and adjustable frequency response that can be used to optimize touch performance. Moreover, it also features on-chip frequency compensation and self-calibration of touch reference. These features offer greater design flexibility and configurability.
The device is developed to enhance and maximize capacitive touch performance. Capacitive touch applications work based on electrostatic field principles and the device is designed to detect small changes in an environment’s electrostatic field. The device has three channels (A/D sync, BCD and GND) that are used to obtain capacitance information by measuring the capacitance between two electrodes on a surface, or between an electrode and a common ground.
The device executes a very efficient and fast scan of the touching and releasing process. The sampling rate of the device can go up to 8kHz such that it accurately identifies finger touches. The signals are then transferred for further processing using the I2C bus, which increases the efficiency of the touch sensing operations.
The AD7148ACPZ-1500RL7 has built-in digital temperature compensation that ensures consistent performance and repeatability. Additionally, the integrated digital filters enable noise suppression and reject false touches. The combination of these features reduces false touches and increases reliability of the touch sensing application.
