The AD7506JN is an 8-channel 3-state digital analog multiplexer/ demultiplexer. It can select a single analog signal from up to 8 sources and can also deselect all inputs to output a high impedance state. It is intended for use in low voltage and low power applications, and can be interfaced with TTL, DTL, PMOS, and NMOS logic. The AD7506JN is designed to be used in Digital-to-Analog converters, Analog Switches, interfaces between low voltage and high voltage systems, and low power, low noise systems.

The AD7506JN is composed of three basic analog switches, A through C, which form a 3-input, 1-output multiplexer/demultiplexer. Each switch has an 8-bit input port and a single output port, enabling it to direct different analog signals to either the common output port or the high-impedance state. Besides the 8-bit input ports, each switch also has an enable/disable pin, designated EN/DIS, which can be used to control the switch’s operational state. When enabled, the switch will open and the analog signal will be redirected to the common output port, while when disabled, the switch will close and the common output port will be held in the high-impedance state.

When all three switches are enabled, the AD7506JN has a 3-input, 1-output multiplexer arrangement. The 8-bit data bus of each switch can serve as the selection input, and the two remaining selection inputs are determined by the outputs of the other two switches. The 8-bit data bus of the common output switch can be used to provide the demultiplexer function. When all three switches are disabled, the common output port is high impedance and the AD7506JN is then placed in the high impedance state.

The AD7506JN has a wide range of applications including Analog Switches, Multiplexers, Demultiplexers, Digital-to-Analog converters, Amplifiers, and Sensor Interfacing. It can be used in combination with CPLDs, FPGAs, DSPs and other logic families, such as TTL, DTL, CMOS, and sigma-delta converters. It can switch signals ranging from ±5V and up with a maximum operating temperature of 125°C. The AD7506JN is offered in a low-power, low-voltage QSOP-16 package.
