The AD8194ACPZ is an integral part of the advanced analog switch family, designed to provide superior performance when experiencing the most demanding signals. This integrated, low-voltage, low-power switching device, which is currently the most advanced low-power CMOS switch, is deemed to be an ideal replacement for the classic discrete switch circuit. The AD8194ACPZ combines a wide range of features and characteristics, including high linearity, high immunity to power supply surges and a low "on" resistance of only 51 ohms. Furthermore, these switches can be operated from a single 3-volt control voltage and can handle a maximum operating voltage of ±15 volts.
At the most basic level, the AD8194ACPZ consists of two independently choppable switch paths, with each having its own control inputs, and an enable/disable signal. Each path is essentially constructed as an SPDT (single-pole double-throw) switch, capable of switching two inputs at the same time. This allows the user to select from two different inputs when using the application. When used in conjunction with the enable/disable control input, the AD8194ACPZ allows for three-wire control between the two inputs – again, allowing the user to manually select which of the two inputs should be routed. Furthermore, there is a protective circuit at the output which improves the system’s performance when the inputs are often switched.
