AD8221AR-REEL7 is a precision instrumentation amplifier, a device in the category of linear amplifiers. The first two stages are configured as an instrumentation amplifier. The first two amplifier stages consist of a differential input stage and a gain stage. The first two stages provide programmable gain and input impedance. The gain setting of the amplifier is adjusted by setting the voltage across a resistor network. The gain of the amplifier is set by the ratio of the resistance of the input resistor network to the output resistor network. Both the input and output networks can be adjusted independently. The second stage is the output stage. It provides current to drive the output. The output stage comprises of a MOSFET cascode amplifier and a current source. The MOSFET amplifier is used to provide low output impedance, while the current sourcedriver ensures high precision accurate current source.The AD8221AR-REEL7 also features built-in Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Over-Voltage Protection circuitry. This protects the amplifier from the harmful effects of electric fields (ESD) and over-voltage conditions.
