The AD9215BCP-80EBZ is an Evaluation Board for analog to digital converters (ADCs). It is a low-power, low-noise, 8-bit data converter that provides excellent conversion precision and fast throughput. The AD9215BCP-80EBZ features an integrated high-speed sampling front-end that supports input data rates up to 10 MHz and up to 80 MSPS conversion rate for basic operation. Its low power consumption of only 3.2 mW makes it suitable for battery powered and portable applications. The AD9215BCP-80EBZ Evaluation Board is mainly designed for users who need to evaluate the performance of the AD9215BCP-80 ADC. It includes a wide-band gain-setting amplifier, which provides a nominal gain of 16 dB with ± 1 dB over an input signal level range of 10 dB (Typically) to -14 dBV. The Evaluation Board also featuring a 4-pole elliptic digital filter that enables the user to reduce the noise in the output signal by up to 15 dB. The AD9215BCP-80EBZ operates with a single +3.3V power supply and consumes very low power of only 3.2 mW. It has a wide range of operating signal input frequency from DC to 10 MHz and maximum throughput of up to 80 MSPS for basic operation. The working principle of the AD9215BCP-80EBZ is based on successive approximation architecture. It includes a data capture block, voltage reference, and a sample-and-hold circuit. The successive approximation method transfers the analog input signal into many fast digital bits, which is then converted into an output code. The data capture block acquires the sample at the intersection of the sample and hold circuit. Then the voltage reference block generates a staircase that ramps up from zero to the input voltage of the analog signal. After that the successive approximation block compares these two signals and determines the digital code for the analog voltage. Finally, the output refers to a digital code, which reflects the analog voltage. In addition, the Evaluation Board includes a variety of features that enable signal conditioning to improve performance. These features include an adjustable output voltage/gain level setting SMA header that can be used to set the gain up to 16dB for optimized performance or to standardize the output levels for comparison with other board. There is also an additional user-adjustable filter which can be used to shape the frequency response, eliminating unwanted noise.
