Analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) perform the conversion process necessary to convert the continuous analog signals in physical systems into digital signals necessary for digital computing: they are the essential components of any analog-to-digital system. The ADC32RF80IRMPT is a 8-bit, 200 Ksps ADC that is designed for battery-powered and portable low-power RF transceiver applications. It has an integrated low-dropout voltage regulator and a flexible input interface. Working Principle
The ADC32RF80IRMPT is an 8-bit, 200 Ksps ADC designed for battery-powered and portable low-power RF transceiver applications. It has two major blocks, an analog signal path and a digital signal path.
In the analog signal path, the input signal is pre-processed with a pair of biasing circuits, these circuits adjust the input signal to meet the best signal linearity requirements of the ADC. After the biasing blocks, the signal is fed into a wideband track-and-hold amplifier which functions to achieve a gain of 16dB and keep a sample of the input signal during the ADC conversion. The signal is then sent to the successive approximation register (SAR) ADC, which uses a binary search algorithm depend on comparison both between input signals and the reference voltage and between the retrieved signal bits from the SAR. Finally, the converted signal is processed by the digital signal processor, producing a fully-digital compensated signal suitable for use in digital signal processing (DSP) applications.
The ADC32RF80IRMPT is optimized for low-power applications by featuring a distributed analog design. This design distributes the sensing circuitry into the analog signal path leading to improved power management. Furthermore, the ADC has a low-noise distribution amplifier and a mini-DPD architecture which is used to adjust the output signal in order to reduce distortion. This architecture also has a built-in programmable filter for digital design flexibility.
