Introduction
The ADG601BRTZ-REEL7 is a monolithic CMOS device that typecasts in the family of Interface - Analog Switches, Multiplexers, and Demultiplexers. This device can operate on a single supply voltage ranging from 2V to 5.5V. It offers a low and a fast switching capability. Its SO Normally open type 8-channel Multiplexer has a low ON resistance of 300 Ohms and a fast switching time of 65ns. The device also has an extremely low, 32 mV of pin to pin ON resistance.
Applications
This device is widely used in many general purpose switching and multiplexing applications such as automatic test systems, attenuator networks, power management, consumer electronics, audio systems, multimedia systems, video and audio switching, high-speed logic subsystems, serial communication, telecommunications, automobile electronics and medical imaging systems. The ADG601BRTZ-REEL7 is also ideal for applications with supplies between 2V and 5.5V requiring low power consumption and low on resistance.
Working Principle
The ADG601BRTZ-REEL7 uses metal-oxide semiconductor (MOS) transistors with unique symmetrical architecture to ensure high performance without any parasitic capacitances since there is no internal gate capacitance. The device contains eight channels, each consisting of a N-channel (normally open) MOS transistor (NMOS), a P-channel (normally closed) MOS transistor (PMOS), and an addressable pass-gate. The pass-gates are connected in series with the transistors, which allow the pass-gate to be \'on\' or \'off\' as a single unit. When the gate of the PMOS is high and the gate of the NMOS is low, the pass-gate remains off. When the gates of the PMOS is low and the gate of the NMOS is high, the pass-gate will be \'on\' and the channel is enabled. The output voltage level is shorted to ground when the channel is enabled.While the device operates on a single supply, it dissipates a very low amount of power due to the low RDS(ON) of the pass-gate. When the pass-gate is off, the device will consume only ~700 nA and turn off ~200 nA when activated by an addressable pin.
