It has been optimized for applications that act as base stations, small-cell, repeaters, and distributed antenna systems (DAS). It is useful for applications that require transmission, reception and signal switching with minimal loss and distortion at frequencies up to 8GHz.The evaluation kit includes the evaluation board, a DC power supply, an antenna, and accompanying documentation. The ADL5544-EVALZ evaluation board is an exposed die with SMA connectors mounted directly on the board. It consists of a balun, transmit/receive switch, and input RF attenuator. These components are connected with shielded signal paths.The balun is a 4:1 wideband transformer with an impedance matching range of 150 ohms to 3000 ohms. This enables the evaluation board to be used for any application that requires a 150–3000 ohm impedance match. The balun also includes an impedance tunable inductor to optimize the input match required for high linearity applications. This ensures that the board performs up to its specifications under all operating conditions.The transmit/receive switch is a double-pole, double-throw (DPDT) signal switch, which is used to switch between transmission and reception modes. This allows the user to analyze the performance of the system in both transmit and receive modes, reducing the time and complexity of testing. The switch also has built-in isolation to reduce the interference caused by either mode.The input RF attenuator is a three-pole, double-throw (3PDT) switch, which is used to generate attenuation of up to 30dB.
