The ADL5906-EVALZ is an application specific evaluation board that provides an optimal platform for efficient development of RF circuits before transferring to a production design. It features an RF link test configuration module with active components assembled on the board, such as Si414x transceivers, demo boards, RF front-end circuity, antennas, amplifiers, LNAs, switches, SAW filters, etc. These components can generate a comprehensive coverage of radio frequency transmission for evaluation of RF related parameters, such as sensitivity, interference, and link performance in the signal. The board clarifies application specifics for efficient testing of radio frequency related systems.
Working Principle
The board uses the 100-pin high speed LVDS transceiver to implement a complete radio frequency link. The Si414x transceiver featured on the board features both receive and transmit capability. Also, the board includes reference designs for 28 MHz/-10dBm signal input power and harmonic filtering for fundamental and second harmonics. The input of -10dBm increases the sensitivity for a better link performance. The evaluation board can be modified to use different input power, such as two-way radio systems with +5dBm input power. The board also implements a four-way switch to enable more than one antenna to be used to receive signal. In addition, the board provides terminations when the link is disconnected from the signal source, so as to avoid noise present in the evaluation circuits.
The evaluation board features a number of ICs to enable efficient evaluation of the RF link performance. For instance, the Si414x transceiver works in conjunction with an ARM Cortex-M3 MCU and power regulator for low power consumption and optimization of the link performance. The evaluation board also features an ADC for accurate input power measurement, and a line driver which enables connection to the cable. External power can be provided through a DC jack, providing between 9V and 12V of supply.
