Working Principle

The board uses the 100-pin high speed LVDS transceiver to implement a complete radio frequency link. The Si414x transceiver featured on the board features both receive and transmit capability. Also, the board includes reference designs for 28 MHz/-10dBm signal input power and harmonic filtering for fundamental and second harmonics. The input of -10dBm increases the sensitivity for a better link performance. The evaluation board can be modified to use different input power, such as two-way radio systems with +5dBm input power. The board also implements a four-way switch to enable more than one antenna to be used to receive signal. In addition, the board provides terminations when the link is disconnected from the signal source, so as to avoid noise present in the evaluation circuits.

The evaluation board features a number of ICs to enable efficient evaluation of the RF link performance. For instance, the Si414x transceiver works in conjunction with an ARM Cortex-M3 MCU and power regulator for low power consumption and optimization of the link performance. External power can be provided through a DC jack, providing between 9V and 12V of supply.
