The ADM00399 evaluation board is designed for power supply solutions in off-line systems. It can be used to evaluate the performance of DC-DC, AC-DC converters with PFC, Frequency Emulation, Current Mode Control, or other advanced control techniques. This evaluation board is mainly used to develop products, demonstrate technologies, and engineer solutions for applications such as computers, consumer electronics, home and industrial automation, Internet of Things, and a variety of other applications.

The ADM00399 board has two dedicated EVAL-CONV-UP1 buck module connectors (DC-DC converters), four dedicated EVAL-CONV-UP2 buck-boost module connectors (AC-DC converters with PFC), one dedicated MOSFET driver connector, and an optional connection to a display device, to simplify the evaluation process. The two buck modules are capable of delivering up to 978 watts of power. The four buck-boost modules are capable of delivering up to 4.6KW of power, with a single +12V output.

The ADM00399 evaluation board works on the principle of frequency emulation, which helps in driving AC-DC converters and DC-DC converters efficiently. It uses a high-precision PWM signal of a few hundred kHz to control the switching frequency of the FET drivers. The PWM signal is generated by the on-board digital controller and sent to the FET drivers, which changes the gate drive signals of the MOSFETs accordingly. This allows the FETs to be switched at different frequencies, thereby allowing the power supplies to be operated with superior dynamic performance (efficiency, load response, and transient characteristics).
