Linx Technologies\' ADM13305-18ARZ is a low-dropout (LDO) voltage supervisor IC for providing power-supply normal, warning and power-down reset outputs as well as a fault output. Working Principle

The ADM13305-18ARZ provides users with a versatile voltage supervisor, allowing for control of two 3.3V/5V supplies, or one 5V supply, depending on the configuration of the supplies. The voltage supervisor monitors the voltage precisely and may choose to generate a reset or warning signal depending on the particular configuration.

The core of the IC comprises two individual voltage detectors and two voltage references. Each voltage detector is connected to one of the two regulated supplies, allowing the two voltages to be compared. When one of the detector voltages falls below or rises above a predetermined threshold, a logic level signal is provided by the voltage detector. This signal is used to control the Shuffle/Latch logic block, which in turn generates appropriate reset and warning signals.

Voltage detection is not the only feature of the voltage supervisor. The ADM13305-18ARZ also has an integrated watchdog timer, which is used to monitor the system’s health. Inputs to the watchdog timer are provided by an external clock or by the system microcontroller. If the watchdog timer is not serviced (i.e., no signal is received) within the specified timeout period, a watchdog output is generated, thereby triggering a reset signal.
