The ADM483JRZ are designed for applications that require multiple RS-232 interfaces, such as in data acquisition, instrumentation and industrial automation. The device features three channels: one driver and two receivers. Each channel provides up to 1.5Mb/s of throughput, thus providing up to 4.5Mb/s of total throughput. The device is ideal for applications that require multiple UARTs, such as in embedded systems and automotive infotainment systems.The ADM483JRZ is a single-chip device that integrates a UART, digital logic and power control into a single device. It provides a low-cost solution for multiple-RS-232 interface implementations. The device includes a transmitter/receiver pair (Tx, Rx), and a second receiver (Rx2) on the same side of the interface. The device also includes an integrated crystal-based clock oscillator, a clock generator, an RS-485 transceiver and three I/O pins.The ADM483JRZ operates at the data rate of up to 1.5Mb/s and is backward compatible with devices operating at the lower speeds of up to 115Kb/s. The accuracy of the device is 1%. The device is designed for high performance and reliability, and is designed to be very easy to use and configure.The device has two modes of operation: asynchronous and synchronous. In asynchronous mode, the device operates in a “pipelined” manner in which data is received and transmitted independently, thus eliminating unnecessary overhead between transmit and receive operations. In synchronous mode, the device operates in a “linked” manner in which the receive and transmit clocks are synchronized for better performance.The ADM483JRZ provides a number of important features, including an intelligent control port that can be used to configure the device. The device also provides an adjustable data-rate auto-bauding capability, which automatically adjusts the baud rate of the device to match the rate of the other end of the link, thus eliminating the need for any manual configuration.The ADM483JRZ is available in four package sizes and can be used in a variety of applications. It is suitable for use in applications such as data acquisition systems, industrial automation, instrumentation and other communication system implementations that require multiple UARTs.
