Designed for commercial and industrial applications requiring precise frequency and timing control, it is a welcome addition to the ever-growing clock/timing industry.The ADN2814ACPZ-500RL7 is a Texas Instruments (TI)/Broadcom (Broadcom) hybrid, providing an integrated full-function JESD204B transceiver with independent clock/timing control. It is built with a low-jitter, high-resolution differential clock synthesizer and a 16-bit programmable frequency divider. It supports several reference sources, including an external crystal and an internal oscillator, with wide input frequency range.The device is designed to deliver clock rates up to 1.6 GHz and provides precision-calibrated tuning across a wide frequency range. It features onboard clock/timing compensation filters to reduce jitter and clock-to-output skew. The integrated transceiver circuit has independent clock for both the transmit and receive paths, eliminating the need for external buffering. It supports externally programmed phase-locked loop (PLL) frequencies, allowing for flexible clock/timing control.The application field of the ADN2814ACPZ-500RL7 includes a variety of communications, computing, and measurement applications, such as high-speed jitter-reduction in Gigabit Ethernet or USB systems, or jitter reduction in SATA and Fibre Channel systems, and in oscilloscopes, logic analysers and signal analysers.The working principle of the ADN2814ACPZ-500RL7 is to convert a low-frequency reference signal into a high-frequency clock signal. The device consists of a low-frequency crystal oscillator, a high-frequency reference clock, a frequency divider and a phase-locked loop (PLL) circuit. The low-frequency oscillator is used as the input reference signal. The frequency of the input source is divided down using the frequency divider and the output of the divider is compared with the reference clock frequency. This comparison results in an error signal which is used to drive the PLL loop, generating a precision output clock signal. The frequency divider also has a programmable divisor, used to set the required output frequency within the specified range of the device. The PLL circuit is used to control the output clock signal’s frequency and phase with high accuracy and low jitter. The PLL circuit is designed to increase the output frequency accuracy and reduce jitter by employing a tuned loop with a high quality factor, adjustable damping and gain. The PLL also contains edge placement, slew rate and frequency feedback loops to assure a more accurate output signal.The ADN2814ACPZ-500RL7 is an ideal device for applications requiring high accuracy and stability with low jitter, wide frequency range and easy setup and control. Its highly integrated design, combined with its excellent performance, makes it an ideal solution for a wide range of clock/timing applications.
