The ADP2102-1.2-EVALZ is a compact, rugged, low-cost evaluation board designed for integrated off-line switching power supplies. This board is used in energy-saving application fields, such as medium power LED lighting, industrial automation, output and general power supply circuits. The board accurately simulates load and line conditions in order to evaluate the performance of the ADP2102-1.2-EVALZ power converter, providing quick and reliable development of high-efficiency applications.
The ADP2102-1.2-EVALZ includes a control section, a conventional power section, an integrated gate driver section, a high-performance voltage controller, and power supply protective circuits. These boards may also include an on-chip temperature detector. The board’s SMPS (Switched Mode Power Supply) is used to convert line power into alternate or regulated power, which can then be used to power other circuits. The ADP2102-1.2-EVALZ has a high efficiency rating of 92% and is capable of supplying up to 60 W of output power with 1.2 A of output current.
The ADP2102-1.2-EVALZ control section provides the control signal to the gate driver section. This signal is the reference voltage for the integrated high-speed voltage control oscillator (VCO) which then generates a high frequency PWM signal. The PWM signal is then sent to the gate driver section and drives the power MOSFETs in the power section. This section takes the high-frequency PWM signal and converts it into a high voltage pulse drive signal, allowing for high efficiency. The paper capacitors in the power section create a large filter capacitor (including the EMI suppressing capacitors) allowing for the current flowing through to be kept at a minimum.
In order to protect the power section from excessive voltage, as well as the rest of the system from overloading, a dielectric absorber circuit is also included in the ADP2102-1.2-EVALZ. This circuit creates a gap between the power section and the control section, only allowing predetermined levels of voltage to pass. Finally,a temperature detector is also included in this evaluation board. This circuit is used to detect the heat generated by the power section of the board. If the temperature rises above a specified point, the circuit will shut down the power section, protecting the system from possible damage.
The ADP2102-1.2-EVALZ evaluation board is the perfect choice for energy-saving applications such as industrial automation, power supply circuits, and LED lighting.
