ADP2114-EVALZ is a high-efficiency, low-power evaluation board used to evaluate the ADP2114/5/6/7 three-phase, DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS controllers. This evaluation board includes a pre-programmed microcontroller and a debug terminal that can be connected to a personal computer through a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connection. The debug terminal is used to configure the operating parameters of the evaluation board and to collect data from the evaluation board.
The ADP2114-EVALZ comprises a buck DC/DC stage using an integrated MOSFET, a buck/boost AC/DC stage using a resonant LLC or bridgeless PFC stage with a secondary-side synchronous rectifier MOSFET. The ADP2114/2115/2116/2117 controllers provide high-efficiency solutions that reduce costs and eliminate the need for a large output inductor. These controllers have wide input voltage ranges, allowing them to be used in AC/DC applications with input voltages ranging from 7 V to 380 Vrms, and DC/DC applications with input voltages ranging from 10 V to 80 Vdc.
The operation of the ADP2114-EVALZ follows a specific cycle depending on the design of the system. The ADP2114-EVALZ applications field works by initiating power sequencing for each of the power stages. In the first stage, the power-on sequence begins with initializing the power stages. In the second stage, the power is then ramped up slowly by gradually increasing the current and voltage, until the voltage and current reaches the required level. After this, the system then spends most of its time in the enabled state, monitoring the voltage and current of the whole system. The overcurrent protection is also monitored continually in order to avoid any major system failures. In the third stage, the power is ramped down slowly, lowering the current and voltage until it is at its minimum, and then the system drops into the disabled state.
The ADP2114-EVALZ provides a high-efficiency power conversion solution that enables the development of power supplies for nearly any application. In terms of its working principle, the ADP2114-EVALZ utilizes synchronous rectification techniques to achieve high efficiency. The board contains both a MOSFET and a diode based synchronous rectification circuit, allowing the design engineer to easily switch between the two. When the voltage across the primary power MOSFET is greater than the control voltage generated by the controller, the MOSFET turns on and draws current. When the voltage across the primary power MOSFET is lower than the control voltage generated by the controller, the diode in parallel with the MOSFET draws current. This process helps increase the efficiency of the power supply and reduce power losses.
