The ADP2108-2.5-EVALZ evaluation board has seen a range of applications across multiple industries, in particular due to its ability to deliver high efficiency, low noise, and high power density. Designed in accordance with off-line (DC/DC and AC/DC) switched mode power supply (SMPS) topology and based on the latest energy efficient components, this board is the perfect choice for a wide variety of applications.
At the heart of the ADP2108-2.5-EVALZ evaluation board is the ADP2108-2.5 switcher. This device enables the board to deliver a peak output power of up to 24W with a peak efficiency of up to 95.6%. It features an Advanced Analog IC (AIC) high voltage power MOSFET, two low voltage N-Channel MOSFETs, and a low-cost Class D output stage. The board also includes all the necessary external components required for enabling the ADP2108-2.5 switcher, giving it the flexibility to work with a wide range of load and line conditions without any additional passives.
The ADP2108-2.5-EVALZ evaluation board also features an ACM module, which enables it to be used for applications that require both AC/DC and DC/DC operation. This module provides the board with the opportunity to be used with three different kinds of power sources at different times: 110/220V AC, 12V DC, and 5V DC. The module has two operational modes: AC/DC and DC/DC. In AC/DC mode, the board works by first rectifying 110/220 AC input voltage and then converting it to a regulated DC output voltage. In DC/DC mode, the board converts the 12V DC or 5V DC input voltage to a regulated DC output voltage.
Depending on the application, the ADP2108-2.5-EVALZ evaluation board can also be used as a single-channel switcher. In single-channel mode, the board is capable of delivering a regulated DC output voltage of up to 24V at a load current of up to 250mA. The board is equipped with an input voltage range of 7V to 28V, making it suitable for a wide range of applications. The board also features several monitor and control features, including an on/off switch, current limiting, soft-start, and a thermal protection circuit.
