ADP2102-1.5-EVALZ is an evaluation board for DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS applications. It is a high current, low dropout, and wide input voltage range regulator used for DC/DC & AC/DC (off-line) SMPS applications.
ADP2102-1.5-EVALZ presents an easy to use evaluation platform for a variety of applications. It includes an integrated converter solution with input voltage 2V - 6V DC and output voltage of 1.5V, adjustable output voltage is also available if desired. Additionally, it includes various protection features such as over temperature, over current, and over voltage protection.
This evaluation platform allows designers to customize the platform to work for their specific application needs. The ADP2102-1.5-EVALZ has a low dropout voltage allowing it to operate optimally at a wide range of input and load conditions. The wide regulation range, high efficiency, and fast transient response are what make this converter board a universal solution for many applications such as notebook power supplies, engine starting systems, automotive, and telecommunications.
The ADP2102-1.5-EVALZ is based on the industry leading ADP2102 converter chip, which is a high current linear regulator. It works by using a PMOS pass transistor and an NMOS gate driver to supply output current at a regulated voltage. When an increase in output current is needed, the pass transistor is switched to the on state. The amount of current that is provided by the pass transistor is determined by the voltage across the pass transistor gate.
The pass transistor is then synchronously switched on and off using a high frequency synchronous oscillator.This synchronous on/off switching operation allows for a higher efficiency, which is a key advantage of the ADP2102-1.5-EVALZ converter board. When the pass transistor is switched off, the load current is still supplied by the output capacitance, which is discharged by an internal N-channel MOSFET.
