The ADP2106ACPZ-R7 is a synchronous step-down voltage regulator which utilizes fixed frequency current-mode control to regulate an output voltage as low as 0.6V. It is designed to ensure a reliable operation even with small inductors and low ESR ceramic output capacitors, making it an ideal solution for a broad range of portable and low power applications. It operates in either forced pulse skipping mode or continuous mode with user selectable power saving. This regulator’s low RDS(on) output switch and integrated high-side MOSFET facilitate minimum power loss and very low quiescent current for high efficiency over a wide range of load conditions. The device also features internal thermal shutdown circuitry.
The ADP2106ACPZ-R7 has integrated voltage loop compensation and current-limit circuitry so the external components are minimized. An end-of-charge (EOC) pin is provided to detect the termination of charging and initiate a low-current shutdown mode. Other features include cycle-by-cycle over-current protection, forced pulse-skipping mode operation when operating in CV mode, EN/SYNC enable and soft-start function. The device is compliant to UL60950/IEC60950 safety standards.

Working Principle
The ADP2106ACPZ-R7 operates in either forced pulse-skipping mode (FPSM) or continuous conductionmode (CCM). FPSM utilizes reduce on-time of the power switch as a function of load current. FPSM mode increases efficiency when operating at light load currents or in dropout conditions. The device automatically enters CCM mode when operating at heavy load conditions or when the output voltage falls below a specific limit. The integrated high-side and low-side n-channel MOSFETs feature low RDS(on) with improved conduction losses, allowing for greater efficiency and higher power density. The device also provides internal voltage loop compensation and over-current protection, eliminating the need for external components in most applications.
