ADP2230CP-EVALZ is an evaluation board designed and developed by Analog Devices. It is capable of providing multiple power outputs, allowing users to configure their own off-line, DC/DC and AC/DC switch mode power supply (SMPS). This evaluation board is an excellent choice for quickly testing new power supply designs as it can easily bring up and test the load of the newly designed power supply.The ADP2230CP-EVALZ evaluation board includes all the necessary components for a power supply. It contains the controllers, gate drivers, input and output filters, transformers and other components necessary for a switch mode power supply. It also contains the necessary support circuitry for the ADP2230 controller, which is the main component of this evaluation board. This evaluation board also contains test points which allows users to quickly measure and verify the performance of their power supply design.The ADP2230CP-EVALZ board includes an adjustable output voltage range of 220VAC to 400VAC. It is rated for a maximum continuous operation at full load of up to 150 watts. The ADP2230CP-EVALZ evaluation board also offers an adjustable input voltage range of 12V to 48V. It has a fixed frequency of 75kHz, which reduces the size of the component needed for the power supply and also maximizes the efficiency of the power supply. The ADP2230CP-EVALZ board also includes a soft-start circuitry which enables it to start up quickly and eliminates the inrush current.The ADP2230CP-EVALZ evaluation board uses the AN-1881 as the primary controller for the power supply. This controller has an embedded muxlatch control logic which can be used to control the on and off cycle of the switch mode power supply. The muxlatch control logic enables the user to have a better control of the power supply performance. The AN-1881 controller also offers an operating frequency range of 20kHz to 400kHz, allowing for a wide selection of operating frequencies to be used for the configuration of the switch mode power supply.The primary components of the ADP2230CP-EVALZ board are the AN-1881 controller, the ADP2230 power switch, the inductor, the transformer, the input and output filter capacitors. The inductor will store the energy needed for powering the load, while the transformer provides the necessary isolation between the input and output circuits. The input and output filter capacitors will filter out any noise generated by the switching of the power switch. The ADP2230 power switch is used to switch the flow of energy between the inductor and the load.The ADP2230CP-EVALZ evaluation board also includes a host of other components which support the operation of the power supply. These components include bypass capacitors, diodes, current sense elements, and other components. The current sense element can be used to monitor the current in the power supply, while the bypass capacitors can be used to help filter out any noise generated by the operation of the power switch.
