The ADP2311-1-EVALZ evaluation board is a great example of an DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS for evaluating the performance and features of the ADP2311-1 voltage regulator, which is a pulse width modulation (PWM) DC/DC and AC/DC converter that combines simple external components with a low-cost, low-voltage integrated circuit. This evaluation board is a common reference design for the SMPS, offering designers a platform to evaluate the ADP2311-1 voltage regulator for applications such as computing, consumer, industrial and telecommunication. The ADP2311-1 is a current mode step-down and current mode Buck (off-line) regulator with the capability to generate a wide range of output voltages and high efficiency. It also has an embedded flicker noise filter for improved EMI performance, allowing it to meet most power supply applications demands without additional components. Furthermore, the ADP2311-1 can operate in darkness operation, providing a low-current trickle-start mode in the absence of an input voltage and a high-current output startup mode for normal operation. The ADP2311-1 is available in a three pin TO-221 package that includes an additional shared ground. This starter pack can be beneficial when used with the solder ball technique for manufacturing, as it eliminates the need for additional ground clips during assembly. This evaluation board is designed to generate an adjustable output voltage between 0.8 V to 5.25 V, with a maximum output power of 8A. The ADP2311-1-EVALZ evaluation board utilizes the ADP2311-1 regulator to generate an adjustable output voltage. It contains a reference voltage circuit, current sensing circuitry, and error amplification. The circuit also features a RC filter at the output to minimize ringing and a high operating frequency of up to 2MHz, which makes it more efficient and reduces the system’s footprint. One of the most highlighted features of this evaluation board is its array of built-in protection features. These features include input overvoltage protection, output undervoltage protection, and thermal shutdown. All these protection features offer reliable protection to the evaluationboard system, resulting in improved system reliability and prolonged system life.In addition to the protection features, the ADP2311-1-EVALZ evaluation board allows for proper off-time stabilization in a wide variety of operating environments. Off-time stabilization helps reduce the size of inductors and capacitors in the system. This board also features a cycle by cycle current limiting circuit which provides overcurrent protection which is excellent for short circuits protection. Furthermore, it has a programmable frequency limit function for noise compatibility. In summary, the ADP2311-1-EVALZ evaluation board combines the ADP2311-1 voltage regulator and a DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS evaluation board in one product. It features a reference voltage circuit, current sensing circuitry, protection features, an RC filter, and a high operating frequency of up to 2MHz. These features make this evaluation board ideal as a platform to evaluate the ADP2311-1 voltage regulator for applications such as computing, consumer, industrial and telecommunication applications.
