ADP5034-1-EVALZ, a dc/dc & ac/dc (off-line) smps evaluation board, is specially developed by Alpha & Omega Semiconductor for high-efficiency, low-power switch-mode power supply designs. This evaluation offering helps power supply designers and engineers to develop and quickly assess circuit performance for a wide range of applications.
Application Field:
The ADP5034-1-EVALZ evaluation board is designed to meet the needs of a variety of power supply applications, such as telecommunications, medical supplies, consumer electronics, office automation, and industrial equipment. The board provides an adjustable output from 1.8V to 5.5V and up to 2A of current. It comes with an adjustable spread spectrum performance for efficient operation in EMC-sensitive applications. The board’s high efficiency helps to reduce power loss and improve thermal performance.
Working Principle:
The ADP5034-1-EVALZ evaluation board performs the power conversion process by utilizing a buck topology switching converter. The board uses the ADP5034-1 switcher IC for providing the necessary switching frequency functions. The IC utilizes the current mode control technique to adjust the on-time duration of the internal switches and provide precise output regulation. The IC has an internal voltage reference, an error amplifier, a comparator, and logic and control circuits, which together form the current mode control loop. The error amplifier compares the output voltage to an internally generated reference voltage and the output of this amplifier drives the comparator to control the duty cycle of the internal switches. The spread spectrum technique is enabled by allowing a frequency-sweeping technique, wherein the average switching frequency remains fixed while the frequency is varied between a low limit and a high limit. The inductor and the output capacitors used in the board filter the output to provide a smooth and ripple free DC output. The board also provides a number of monitor and protection features which ensure the safety and reliability of the power supply. These features include short-circuit protection, over-current protection, output over-voltage protection, and thermal shutdown. By using the ADP5034-1-EVALZ evaluation board, engineers and designers can quickly evaluate the performance of their power supply designs, as well as make necessary adjustments to ensure that the circuit is working properly.
