This topology produces a soft switching, high efficiency solution, featuring low noise and high current delivery.The main components of the evaluation board include: the main power switch, the LLC Resonant Driver, primary control circuitry (power switch drive circuit, synchronous controller, current sense amplifier, soft start control, feedback circuit, and VCC sense circuit). The power switch also includes an integrated current sense, a main switching MOSFET, a body diode, a compensation network, and an isolated output filter. The LLC Resonant Driver includes a bootstrap diode, two gate drive MOSFETs, and an auxiliary oscillator circuit.The evaluation board also features several control and protection features, such as overvoltage protection, undervoltage protection, adjustable current limit, adjustable soft start, and the ability to monitor the output of the primary side.In operation, the ADP5034RE-EVALZ converts the input voltage into an output voltage in two steps. First, the main power switch switches the input voltage to the LLC Resonant Driver, which then switches the high voltage to the LLC Resonant Driver. The LLC Resonant Driver then steps it down and supplies power to the output side. The synchronous controller and current sense amplifier monitor the output for overvoltage, undervoltage, and overcurrent protection.The adjustable soft start, integrated with the primary control circuitry, allows users to set the start ramp voltage (VRSS), and the adjustable current limit allows them to define the maximum output current.
