The ADR01CRZ is an integrated, temperature-compensated voltage reference IC that is categorized under PMIC, or Power Management IC, Voltage Reference. It is designed and manufactured to bring accuracy and long-term stability to battery-powered devices, including Portable and Fixed Telecommunications Equipment, Automotive Electronics, Automotive Remote Start Applications, Power Quality Monitoring Systems and Cellular/Wireless Telephone Base Stations.
ADR01CRZ is a 1.25V bandgap voltage reference with a 0.05% initial accuracy. This accuracy is guaranteed over a junction temperature range of -40 to +125°C, ensuring reliable performance even in extreme temperatures. It features low noise of 3µVrms and low power consumption of 1.9µA, with a very wide operating voltage range of 2.7V to 16V. This range is ideal for direct input from almost any supply.
The ADR01CRZ voltage reference IC is built on the time-tested and field-proven Monolithic Bipolar standard bandgap architecture. The circuit has two narrow range cascoded transistors that are fabricated on silicon, along with a current source plus a temperature-to-voltage converter for temperature compensation. The 1.25V reference voltage is internally applied to the base of both transistors. This creates a differential output on the emitters, driving the reference voltage output.
The reference voltage is fed to the hysteretic output stage. This stage is used to buffer the reference voltage in order to increase long-term stability, while the immunity to noise is improved. The hysteretic output stage allows the IC to sink current, allowing the output voltage to remain constant even when the input voltage changes. This buffer helps to reduce the power fluctuations normally associated with a low battery status or increasing system loading.
Finally, to increase overall accuracy, ADR01CRZ incorporates an internal temperature-to-voltage converter. This converter measures the junction temperature and automatically adjusts the reference voltage to compensate for any thermal drift that may occur. The integrated functions, optimal performance, and improved accuracy makes the ADR01CRZ an ideal choice for critical applications.
