ADR434ARMZ-REEL7 is a precision low dropout CMOS voltage regulator which belongs to the PMIC - Voltage Reference family. It is designed to provide a stable reference voltage (1.225v) while working with a low operating current and a low dropout voltage. The other features of ADR434ARMZ-REEL7 include its ability to power loads of up to 10mA, adjustable output voltage capability and its ability to maintain a voltage regulation of less than 1%. In addition, the device has a wide input voltage supply range from 2.7V to 6.5V, is compatible with industrial and commercial temperature ranges and offers an integrated on/ off control.
The ADR434ARMZ-REEL7 is a small form factor surface mount device that is built of 4 separate components including an N-MOSFET, buried Zener diode, bi-directional transistor and a temperature-compensated bandgap reference. The design of the regulator begins with the input voltage being applied at the gate of the FET. This voltage is then regulated by the bandgap reference and then limited by the integrated zener diode. The output is then monitored by the second bi-directional transistor. In order to maintain a regulated output voltage of 1.225v, the transistor allows the voltage at the source of the N-MOSFET to float above the set point of 1.225 volts.(3V).This is done in order to minimize the dropout voltage across the regulator and hence minimize energy losses.
The working principle of the ADR434ARMZ-REEL7 is quite simple and can be explained in terms of four modes of operation. When the input voltage is below the reference voltage, the device will enter an OFF mode. When the input voltage is above the reference voltage, the device will enter aLOAD mode, where the current will be flowing from the source poin to the drain node. When the source voltage decreases and reaches the reference voltage, the device will enter a BREAK-DOWN mode, where the voltage at the gate of the transistor and the zener diode will be equal. Finally, when the source voltage rises, the device will enter a REGULATION mode, where the voltage at the gate of the transistor and the zener diode will be maintained at the reference voltage (1.225V).
In addition to its low dropout voltage and adjustable output voltage capability, the ADR434ARMZ-REEL7 also offers programmable on and off times for greater system flexibility. On top of that, the device also meets all applicable industry standards, including RoHS and WEEE, as well as ESD air gap requirements. Furthermore, it is capable of operating within industrial and commercial temperature ranges of -40 Celsius to +85 Celsius.
The ADR434ARMZ-REEL7 is a highly versatile, low-dropout voltage regulator that is suitable for a wide range of applications.
