ADS5493EVM is an evaluation module (EVM) from Texas Instruments that can be used to evaluate the performance of the ADS5493, a 13-bit, 65 MSPS, high speed analog-to-digital converter (ADC). With the onboard supporting circuitry like low noise clock generator, termination resistors, and testpoints, this EVM makes it easy and straightforward to evaluate the features and performance of the ADS5493.TheADS 5493EVM helps customers to quickly evaluate the features, performance, and Applications of theADS5493 ADC. The wide input voltage range, low noise clock generator, and on-board power measurement, provide flexibility to evaluate the ADC’s topology and functionality with ease.The ADS5493 EVM offers multiple ways to evaluate the performance of the device. First, the wide range of input voltage range from 1.8V-5V for single-ended input and from 3.5V-11V for the differential input allows customers to understand the conversion accuracy across various analog input ranges. Second, the hierarchical control system (HCS) allows customers to interact and control the configuration parameters of the device remotely. Lastly, the EVM’s multiple output algorithms gives customers various options to evaluate the conversion process and system analog performance. The ADS5493 EVM is compatible with external clocking signals, thus customers can test and evaluate various clocking signals to evaluate the performance of the device. The EVM is also provided with a low noise clock generator, enabling user to study the effect of the internal clocking signals.The ADS5493 EVM works on the principle of conversion of analog signals to digital signals. The conversion is done through successive approximation register (SAR) architecture, which is a fast and reliable method of performing the conversion. The device performs successive approximation by comparing the analog input voltage to an on-chip reference voltage. After each comparison, the analog input voltage is converted into a digital value and the analog input voltage is refined by the comparator.The ADS5493 EVM offers an efficient and accurate evaluation of the performance of the ADC. With its onboard circuitry, customers can have a clear understanding of the data conversion accuracy, noise performance, power consumption, and other key features of the ADS5493.
