The ADS8321E/250 is one of the most popular Data Acquisition - Analog to Digital Converters (ADC). It is a low power, single channel integrated ADC/DAC with a resolution of 24-bits. It has an integrated voltage reference and temperature sensor, and can be used in a wide variety of applications.
The device is available in a number of packages, including a 214-pin Fine Pitch Ball Grid Array (FBGA) and a 68-pin Quad Flat No Lead package (QFN). It has an on-chip temperature sensor and voltage reference, and can be used in applications such as temperature and humidity measurement, strain and pressure sensing, environmental monitoring, and power conversion.
The ADS8321E/250 has an internal pseudo-differential non-linearity (INL) of 1 LSB, which ensures accuracy of the output data. The ADC is capable of converting input voltage ranges from 1.8 V to 2.7 V with a sampling rate of up to 25 MSPS. The device has an input range of 0 to 2.7 V, and the output resolution of 24 bits. It is powered up via a single 3 V supply.
The device\'s working principle is based on the successive approximation register (SAR) architecture. The signal is first brought into the internal sample and hold circuit which holds the signal until the sample/conversion cycle starts. The data is then fed into the successive approximation register (SAR) which generates bits of information until a full 24 bit result is obtained.
