The Texas Instruments ADS8364EVM Evaluation Module is a complete system level evaluation platform for evaluating the performance of the company\'s ADS8364 analog-to-digital converter (ADC). It provides the user with the tools to easily evaluate the device\'s features, performance and usability to quickly prototype designs. The ADS8364EVM can be used to develop complete analog-to-digital conversion systems, such as high speed instruments, medical imaging, data acquisition, motor control and digital video applications.The ADS8364EVM converts the analog input signal to an 8-bit parallel output data. It operates from a dual 3V supply voltage and features an automatic gain control (AGC) to match the input signal range to the converter full-scale range. The ADS8364EVM also features an onboard LCD display to allow side-by-side comparison of the ADC performance characteristics.The application field of the ADS8364EVM makes it unique in comparison with other evaluation boards, allowing users to evaluate and design high-performance ADCs for various end applications. The application field includes instrumentation, medical imaging, data acquisition, motor control and digital video applications. Specifically, the ADS8364EVM can be used to prototype high accuracy instrumentation systems for digital imaging systems, data acquisition systems, automation and motion control systems for industrial applications, as well as image processing systems in digital video applications.The evaluation module includes the ADS8364 Analog to Digital Converter (ADC) as well as all of the necessary components to enable complete evaluation of the device. The ADS8364 device is designed specifically to optimize low-cost, high-speed and low power requirements for 8-bit data conversion applications. The device features a wide input dynamic range, high-speed operation, low pin count architecture and low-noise throughput, which makes it ideal for a wide range of data conversion applications.The ADS8364EVM provides a convenient evaluation interface for users to quickly evaluate the performance of the device. The evaluation module comes with all the necessary tools and components, including a 3V dual supply voltage regulator, a LCD display, three sample waveforms and an analog input signal generator. The evaluation interface also includes an on-board USB controller unit that connects the device to a PC for data transfer and programming.The working principle of the ADS8364EVM is simple and easy to understand. The device takes an analog input signal from an ADC source and converts it to a digital 8-bit parallel output signal.
