ADS8341E Working Principle

The working principle of the ADS8341E is based on capacitively-coupled successive-approximation ADC technology. Input signals are converted to digital words by loading input capacitance in the CIN to a voltage based on the input signal. The output capacitance in the COUT is then switched successively until the conversion is complete.

The device contains two comparators; one for the CIN and one for the COUT. The first comparator compares the voltage of the CIN and the reference and generates a digital output level. The second comparator compares the voltage of the COUT with the reference and generates a new digital output level. The process continues until the conversion is complete. The conversion time is determined by the size of the COUT.
