ADS8364M-EVM is a high performance, low cost, fully integrated Evaluation Platform designed to evaluate the performance of the ADS8364M, a 12-bit, 1MSPS Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC). The board offers various interface possibilities providing quick and easy setup of the device. It comprises of a power supply, Programmable Gain Amplifier, 8-Bit DAC, Digital Potentiometer, Digital I/O, USB connector and eight devices of the ADS8364M, a 12-bit, 1MSPS Analog-to-Digital Converter.
The ADS8364M-EVM Evaluation Board provides several features that make the evaluation of the ADS8364M easy and efficient, including:

- Digital potentiometer
- Digital I/O

The application fields of the ADS8364M-EVM Evaluation Board include industrial process control, instrumentation, automotive, medical, telecommunications, consumer electronics, as well as other markets which require accurate and reliable data conversion. The ADS8364M-EVM can be used to develop expanded versions of existing designs, or to evaluate the performance of new IC designs.
The working principle of the ADS8364M-EVM is based on the fact that the ADS8364M is a 12-bit, 1MSPS Analog-to-Digital Converter. The ADS8364M-EVM uses a fixed and two (2) programmable input ranges. Each range is specifically designed to optimize the performance of the ADS8364M. The single ended range is ±2.5V, 0-5V, and the differential range is ±2.5V, ±1.25V. The ADC can be configured in two key operating modes: continuous conversion (free running) or triggered conversion. In either mode, the ADC will sample the analog input signal on the rising and falling edge of the sampling clock. The input signal is then digitized and output at the output data lines. The digital data output interface format for the ADC is LVDS.
The Programmable Gain Amplifier (PGA) which is integrated into the board allows the user to select the gain for each input range. The 8-bit DAC is used to generate a reference voltage for the input signal. This allows the input signal to be compensated for offset errors. The Digital Potentiometer (DAC) is used to adjust the input impedance of the ADC. This configuration options provides improved performance and signal integrity, allowing the user to optimize the performance of the converter for their specific application. The Digital I/O interface is used to configure the operation of the ADC. It also provides control signals for triggering the ADC, synchronizing the ADC and DAC, and enabling and disabling certain features of the device.
