The ADT7467ARQ-REEL utilizes two nested thermal sensor elements to form a capillary-action thermal control circuit. It senses ambient temperatures either directly or through a thermistor device. The first sensor element is a two-wire differential bridge circuit, while the second sensor is a comparator sensing element. The two sensing elements are then connected and connected to an analog voltage output. The output is then used in applications such as providing temperature alarm, system shut-down and resistance programming.

The capillary-action thermal control circuit is triggered by a single positive edge from the voltage input. The rising edge activates the capillary-action thermal control circuit and increases the output resistance by activating the internal SPICE switch. The increased resistance in the output causes the temperature sensor elements to sense a higher temperature. This results in an increased back-pressure on the thermal sensor elements and consequently, a more accurate temperature sensing.

The ADT7467ARQ-REEL has an accuracy of ±1.0°C with a 0.5°C resolution, allowing the thermal control circuit to provide precise and accurate thermal protection. The circuit can detect temperature range up to 130°C, with an overtemperature shut down at 150°C.
